UCSA Elections 2025 Live Results

The results are in, with a 4761votes cast (24.39%). Your UCSA President and Executive Committee for 2025/6 are as follows:

Your President is Tumaru Mataio (41.15%, 1,959 votes). The runner up is Olivia Welsh (37.91%, 1,805 votes).

Vice President Engagement: Max Hodgson (25.04%)

Vice President Academic: Evangeline Rong (38.35%)

Post-Graduate Rep: Tyrone Foster (15.90%)

International Rep: Verna Manuel (24.74%)

Equity Rep: Tarini Nallappan (20.21%)

Pacific Rep: Dominic Toli (49%)

General Executive: Joseph Bray, Charlee Cowey, Bec Connolly, Beatrix, Cathleen Wang, Sarah Foi, Celine Sebastian

The candiate pool was the highest it has been in 10 years with 30 candidates across the board. The UCSA remains having the highest voter turn out for a student assosiation in Australasia.

Elected President for 2026 Tumaru Mataio told Canta she was shocked, emotional, happy and sad.

“All the candidates were very good candidates this year. To our team for next year I am looking foward to working with them.”

When asked what she would say so those who voted for and supported her, Mataio said: “I am deeply honoured that they voted for me, and I really appreciate them voting for me to be the next president, to trust me to take on being their voice for this year.”

Runner up Olivia Welsh said the campaign was exhausting.

“It’s always been a fun process to campaign against such incredible people who want to make a change … it is a very tirting process with an outcome that will really determine the UCSA and the entire student body.”

To those who voted, and supported her, Welsh said: “I very much appreciate it and support the help from people that may not know me but still voted. It’s the journey, it’s what we learn even if you don’t get the outcome you wanted.”
