Tea Party Tickets Sell Out In Record Time

by Abbie Napier // October 12 2009

Another Canty student event is shaping up to be a big one as tickets for Tea Party (Stein) went on sale early Thursday morning. By 8.30am the line at the UCSA was out of the building and 3-4 people deep. Hundreds of students braved the brutal wakeup call to ensure they’re part of the end of year celebrations.

A few unlucky people waited in line for an hour, only to find out that they needed a Student ID for every ticket purchased, or that there was a maximum of four tickets per person. Others, in class, or too lazy to get out of bed, missed out all together. Fourth year Engineering student, Pip Wrenn was “gutted to miss out on a ticket” and was ninth in line when the first lot sold out.

UCSA Pres. Steve Jukes said the line in the morning motivated others to get in quick, resulting in the early sell out. He applauded the new events manager Fabel for being able to “deliver a high quality event at low cost.” An external security company will be controlling the event on the day.

A second lot of tickets go on sale today (Monday 12th) for those who missed out, but judging by Thursday’s turnout, they won’t last long. Amy Shanks, Post-graduate Journalism, said “rumours are circulating about a camp-out in line for Monday’s tickets as the hype around Stein grows in the last week of term.”

Blow off uni, ring in sick, and get a sweet costume! UCSA’s leading line-up of “awesome acts in one place”, including The Mint Chicks and The Jasper Sweeney (2009 Battle of the Bands winners) is making this Stein an event not to be missed!

Jukes’ advice for the day: “Have fun, go mad, and dress up hard.”

Say something!
